"Shocking Affront to the Principles of Democracy"

It is ironic that we revolted against King George because of his tyranny. But now the US, with the support of the President under the guidance of the Attorney General, is committing tyranny in spite of the clear prohibitions within our Constitution. And it is the British that are now pointing this out.

Lord Falconer accused the US of "deliberately seeking to put detainees beyond he rule of law in Guantanamo Bay".
BBC online international version 31-Mar-2007

Why is it that an administration who touts the principle of the rule of law is quite willing to ignore them?

How To Win In Iraq

If we want(ed) to win in Iraq, then we need to undo everything we did to lose the faith and trust of the people in Iraq (and, unfortunately, the world).

"Let me clear it up for any moron with lingering doubts: It’s worse. It’s over. You lost. You lost the day your tanks rolled into Baghdad to the cheers of your imported, American-trained monkeys. You lost every single family whose home your soldiers violated. You lost every sane, red-blooded Iraqi when the Abu Ghraib pictures came out and verified your atrocities behind prison walls as well as the ones we see in our streets. You lost when you brought murderers, looters, gangsters and militia heads to power and hailed them as Iraq’s first democratic government. You lost when a gruesome execution was dubbed your biggest accomplishment. You lost the respect and reputation you once had. You lost more than 3000 troops. That is what you lost America. I hope the oil, at least, made it worthwhile..."

It is not enough to ask "who is our enemy", you must also ask "why".

US Engaged in Genocide and It's Own Moral Suicide

Surely, impeachment is not enough for the destroyers of the US Constitution and innocent lives. Only when tried, convicted and punished for war crimes will Justice be served. And only if this is brought about by it's own citizens will the atrocities be partially forgiven. For silence implies consent.

"It has decimated an entire class — the progressive middle class of Iraq that had proven its capacity to manage Iraqi resources independently and to the benefit of all; it killed nearly a million while sending millions more into exile; it orchestrated death squads and looting and invented new horrors in torture and rape; in the name of bringing democracy, it brought material destruction on a mass scale to a people, aiming also to erase their identity, memory, culture, social fabric, institutions and forms of administration, commerce, and everyday life; it even attacked Iraq’s unborn generations with the 4.7 billion-year death of depleted uranium.

It has engaged in civilisational genocide as well as its own moral suicide. Force, however, does not dictate right. The brutality of power and imperialism has been definitively exposed while the project for a new American century has utterly failed. The consequences for American and international history are conclusive. The world order that formed around erstwhile US liberal values has evaporated. The US invasion and occupation of Iraq is a military, economic, political, moral and cultural disaster for Americans and the world.

US military failure has been demonstrated by the inability of the best funded and most sophisticated armed force in the world to defeat the resistance of a small country and its poor people tired of 13 years of sanctions, exposing war as useless.

While the Americans may attempt to secure their presence in Iraq, they cannot destroy the belief of Iraqis that they have the right to live as any other people in the world, free and independent and sovereign in their land and over their resources."

How (Not) To Act When You Support Our Troops

"A six-month investigation has uncovered multiple cases in which soldiers wounded in Iraq are suspiciously diagnosed as having a personality disorder, then prevented from collecting benefits. The conditions of their discharge have infuriated many in the military community, including the injured soldiers and their families, veterans' rights groups, even military officials required to process these dismissals.

They say the military is purposely misdiagnosing soldiers like Town and that it's doing so for one reason: to cheat them out of a lifetime of disability and medical benefits, thereby saving billions in expenses." (The Nation, "How Specialist Town Lost His Benefits" by Joshua Kors 22-Mar-2007 as seen in CrooksandLiars).

How can this administration claim to support our troops and tolerate this abhorrent treatment? I don't know how pres Bush sleeps at night, but he should be treated like he is treating these brave but wounded soldiers!

Sibel Edmonds, FISA and Bush's Brain

I read Bush's Brain by James Moore and Wayne Slater a few years ago. It outlined quite well the strategies that Karl Rove used successfully in Texas to propel a marginal candidate to the presidency. Karl taught courses in political dirty tricks, and he was so effective that Bush's father (41) banned him from his campaign. One of the tricks he would use is to befriend FBI agents and gather information on opponents, and then at least get them indicted shortly before an election.

Knowing this, I was really worried when it came out that this administration was gathering data via phone, emails and data banks illegally. My first thought was how does anyone know that they aren't gathering information on political opponents, or on congressmen that may need a little pressure to vote 'appropriately'? The answer, of course, is they don't.

Which brings us to Sibel Edmonds, who has been banned from speaking out about corruption within the Bush administration that she learned about as an interpreter at one of the intelligence agencies. George has employed the rarely used State Secrets act to gag her.

"The fact that over the past five years, no known criminal investigations or indictments have resulted from the FISA warrants in question, ... leads to the possibility that the information gathered through the warrants was being used by the Bush administration for political control and not law enforcement purposes." (From The Narcosphere, "Bush Administration's abuse of FISA warrants linked to Sibel Edmonds case" by Bill Conroy 25-Feb-2007)

This is nasty stuff. And almost makes the ruckus over the firing of US Attorney's, and extraordinary renditions seem quaint.

The FBI Can Obtain Any Information On Anyone Without Limits

"In essence, the FBI and our nation's telecommunications companies have secretly created a framework whereby the FBI can obtain -- instantaneously and without limits -- any information it asks for. The Patriot Act already substantially expanded the circumstances under which the FBI can obtain such records without the need for subpoenas or any judicial process, and it left in place only the most minimal limitations and protections. But it is those very minimal safeguards which the FBI continuously violated in order to obtain whatever information its agents desired, about any Americans they targeted, with literally no limits of any kind."
Glenn Greenwald 18-Mar-2007 "The significance of the FBI lawbreaking" as seen on Salon.com

The scary thing about this is that if you read "Bush's Brain" by James Moore and Wayne Slater, you would understand the additional danger in this. Karl Rove routinely used the FBI to dig up dirt on opponents. Now, he has free access to information on anyone. And no one knows how much information they have already stored up for future elections.

Just add this to the list of actions that require the President, Vice President, and Karl to be impeached, and if appropriate, fined and jailed.

The Hell Where Youth and Laughter Go

"You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when soldier lads march by,
Sneak home and pray you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go."

Somewhere, Deep In the Cold, Worm Infested Soil

"Somewhere, deep in the cold, worm-infested soil that a mother will keep watered by tears, lies one of 3,000 young Americans. Dispersed across the land, thousands more will forever carry the scars of war in their battered bodies and hollowed souls, mutants battling hellish shadows and silent phantoms. And the Iraqis, yes those, Mr President, see them spiral into Dante's lower rings of hell, as they join the fastest-growing sect in the land: the dead – hundreds of thousands strong. Watch the White Man's Burden devolve into an orgy of torture and mayhem. "

More on Why Genetically Modified Foods Are Not Good

"Independent research states GM corn should be removed immediately from the market"

"Gene-modified corn MON 863 which has recently been approved for the European market should immediately be forbidden claims the French research group CRII-GEN, who recently completed the only independent analysis of Monsanto's test data for the corn. MON 863, designed to produce a pesticide through gene manipulation, when fed to female rats increased the levels of sugar and fat in their bloodstream. The GM corn also increased the size and weight of the liver as well as impaired kidney function." (From response on Technocrat.net 13-Mar-2007) see also CRII-GEN, Corn MON 863

Why does Monsanto seem so unconcerned about the well being of people? Genetically modified food is not a good idea - except for corporation$ who want a way to patent nature.

And why is this the first study? These studies should be done BEFORE they are marketed and sold. Better yet, just ban them except for medical uses and only if grown where they are guaranteed not to be able to cross pollinate anywhere.

Foreigners Do Our Dirty Work For Us

Unfortunately, we, the citizens of the US, are relying on foreigners to do our dirty work. That work is bringing our corrupt administration to justice.

Despite pleas from the US, Germany is turning over the investigation to Interpol of CIA agents illegally kidnapping and torturing a German citizen.

"Indeed, after a Munich court issued arrest warrants against 13 CIA agents at the end of January for complicity in his kidnapping and subsequent torture, high-ranking US diplomats sought to convince the German government not to expand the search for the perpetrators internationally, German government sources have told DER SPIEGEL" (Der Spiegel 05-MAR-2007).

Italy and Switzerland are pursuing a similar course for similar actions.

Why isn't there an outcry here in the US for trials against the people who authorized and condoned these clearly illegal and immoral acts?

"This is the most criminal Administration in the history of the United States. Some brave prosecutor needs to step up and indict these criminals, Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Gonzales, Rice, Rove, Powell, the entire lot for every violation of American law, every violation of international law, every Constitutional violation. They need to be indicted, tried, convicted and jailed as a warning to all future Administrations that you can not break the law and get way with it." War Profits Reflect Current Day Republican Morals

”In e-mails to his family, Westhusing seemed especially upset by one conclusion he had reached: that traditional military values such as duty, honor and country had been replaced by profit motives in Iraq, where the U.S. had come to rely heavily on contractors for jobs once done by the military.”

Quote from Col Ted Westhusing, a West Point scholar, in a suicide note to his superiors.

The current administration outsources mercenaries and support jobs. Workers paid minimum amount, and the Republican friendly company wins the profit. They do this in a war zone, and they do it in the military hospitals.

"Westhusing was an unusual case: “one of the Army's leading scholars of military ethics, a full professor at West Point who volunteered to serve in Iraq to be able to better teach his students. He had a doctorate in philosophy; his dissertation was an extended meditation on the meaning of honor,” Miller explained in his L.A. Times piece."

Bush's "Bad Spirits"

It was noted that after president Bush left Guatemala, Mayan priests felt the need to perform a ceremony to remove the "bad spirits" he left behind.

"That a person like (Bush), with the persecution of our migrant brothers in the United States, with the wars he has provoked, is going to walk in our sacred lands, is an offense for the Mayan people and their culture," Juan Tiney, the director of a Mayan nongovernmental organization (as quoted from Yahoo news "Priests to purify site after Bush visit" 9-MAR-07)

Indeed, Bush is also an offense to the people of the United States and our culture. His "bad spirits" persist here as he defies his oath to protect the constitution, continues to authorize death by torture without fair trials, and bleeds the country of both it's fiscal and moral resources.

Corrupt and Incompetent

"This administration is the most corrupt and incompetent administration in U.S. history. The security of the American people has been jeopardized by the falsification of intelligence that led to the invasion of Iraq as well as the outing of a CIA agent's identity. Justice must be served to all those who put our country at risk. Either Special Counsel Fitzgerald or another prosecutor must continue to pursue the truth. The American people deserve to have the cloud hanging over Vice President Cheney and other administration officials lifted once and for all so we can find out the truth."

Congressman Maurice Hinchey (D-NY) quoted from Crooks and Liars 3/8/07
