When Election Day Is Scarier Than Holloween

The president has taken another step closer to fascism.

On October 17th, 2006, he quietly signed Public Law 109-364, or the "John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007" (H.R.5122). This is a terrible law, and it allows the president to take over the National Guard without authorization from the States.

Specifically, it states that "the President may employ the armed forces, including the National Guard in Federal service, to restore public order and enforce the laws of the United States when, as a result of a natural disaster, epidemic, or other serious public health emergency, .... or other condition in any State or possession of the United States, the President determines that domestic violence has occurred to such an extent that the constituted authorities of the State or possession are incapable of ... maintaining public order, "in order to suppress, in any State, any insurrection, domestic violence, unlawful combination, or conspiracy."

Consider this along with the detention camps the government is building. What might trigger an event that would cause the president to declare martial law?

Like maybe a stolen election. Anyone who knows what is going on with our electronic elections, and knows what this administration is doing with unlawful databases of personal information, knows that there is almost a zero chance of a fair election. And if the semi-comatose public finally realizes this after a questionable Republican win, there could be marching in the streets. And if there is, the president, and the president alone, can supress it.

Read up on Greg Palast (The Best Democracy Money Can Buy), or read articles in The Rolling Stone by Robert Kennedy on stolen elections. Then you will realize why election day may be scarier than Holloween.
