Genetically Modified Foods - Probably Not a Good Ideaa
Scientists have found that Genetically Modified (GM) foods are sometimes not good for you, and often are bad for you. Many of these GM foods have been widely produced with little or no study of their affect when eaten.
Recently, findings by the Russian Scientist Dr Arpad Pusztai that GM potatoes produce cancer in test, have been proven correct. "Dr Pusztai and a colleague used potatoes that had been genetically modified to produce a protein, lectin. They found cell damage in the rats' stomachs, and in parts of their intestines." (The Independent, "Suppressed report shows cancer link to GM potatoes" 17-Feb-2007)
If the are trying to add protein to potatoes, why don't they look for existing plants, like sweet potatoes, that are naturally high in protein and iron?
