You and I must make choices to determine the character of our country
"In this decisive year, you and I will make choices that determine both the future and the character of our country."
-- George W. Bush, State of the Union address, Jan. 31, 2006
And, unfortunately, the choice becomes clearer every day. In order to regain the trust of the world in our character and in democracy, we must now call for impeachment of this irresponsible president who fails to uphold his oath on an almost daily basis. In addition, and in accordance with several treaties, and being a country of laws, we must also prosecute the president and others in his administration who are responsible for knowing and authorizing extraordinary renditions, torture.
We are bound as Americans, who cherish our country and our democracy, to do this. Otherwise if we do nothing, then we are also guilty.
As Martin Luther King said, "A time comes when silence is betrayal."
